House
on the Potomac River
The
river house is located on a magnificent but difficult building
site on a steep wooded hill overlooking the river as it spills
over a dam and rocks below. Stacking the spaces of the house
allowed the structure to work with the slope of the hill while
providing full enjoyment of the river from every major space.
The views are further enhanced by generous amounts of glass
and glass corners. A warm, intimate feeling is generated by
the interior materials - stone, slate, red oak and cedar.
This house was an award winner in the Fairfax County Exceptional
Design Awards Program.
