Indian
Beach House
Built
for a couple who "(didn't) like new houses as a rule",
this house was designed to incorporate several architectural
details from demolished older homes that the owners had found
on antiquing trips. These included several old doors of various
heights, a glass transom, a worn pine mantel, and strips of
old wood fencing. These were incorporated in such a manner
that they "are not only functional for the most part,
but also give the house its special character." Adding
to the mellow, old house appearance is the use of salvaged
heart-of-pine floors.
